Vihaasini Selvakumar is a person of many talents, with an innate drive for art and creation. Her affinity for music emerged at an early age, starting her lessons at just four years old. At nine, she began learning Bharathanatyam, a form of Indian classical dance, under various instructors. Eventually, she started training with Dr. Roshani Vijayan at Thanjavur Kala Vidhyalaya in Coimbatore. She has been practicing Bharatanatyam for the past 17 years. Her guru, always encouraging students to step out of their comfort zones, guided her through various stage performances, Natyanjali dance festivals, and unique choreographies. She completed her Arangetram, a significant milestone in the learning of Bharatanatyam, in 2018. She has completed Diploma in Nattuvangam from Annamalai University. She is currently leaning Nattuvangam under the mentorship of Dr.Ranjini Goshal and Carnatic music under Rajesh Keshavan. She is aspiring her studies in Tamil Isai or Pannisai too.
Her school education at Amrita Vidyalaya greatly influenced her to grow holistically. School provided numerous opportunities to develop her skills and leadership to making a positive impact on society and herself. With her interest music and art made it possible for her to do school dance performances and lead her school band. She completed her higher secondary education at Premier Vidyaa Vikash, where she received substantial opportunities and support for dancing and showcasing her talents. She earned her Bachelor of Engineering in Biomedical at Dr. N.G.P Institute of Technology in Coimbatore. The institution always appreciated her and offered a wide stage for her various performances.
She is multilingual, and proficient in Tamil, English, Hindi, and Sanskrit. She has participated in events such as Natyanjali, Temple Festivals and Guinness World Record. With the blessings of the Almighty, guru, family, and friends, she established her dance school, Navarasa Natyalaya, in Pune at 2023. She is blessed and grateful to have an amazing parents, family and spouse who always encouraging and supporting her artist journey.
